Canadian advocacy group hits out at Quebec iGaming site blocking plans

Canada’s Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC) has hit out at Quebec’s proposed plans to order internet service providers (ISPs) to block unlicensed iGaming websites, arguing that it would encroach on federal jurisdiction over telecommunications.

PIAC, which advocates for the “fair and balanced interpretation and application of Canadian law in order to protect and preserve the public interest”, has filed an application regarding Quebec Bill 74 which includes plans for a crackdown on illegal online gaming operators.
