NBA defends integrity fee demand amid rising opposition

The National Basketball Association (NBA) has responded to widespread calls, most recently from New Jersey Senate President Stephen Sweeney, to oppose any attempts to include integrity fees in sports betting legislation.

Sweeney has sent a letter to governors and legislators in all 50 US states warning against the "hypocritical" attempt by professional sports team owners to "extort" money from states that regulate sports betting by demanding an integrity fee.
