District of Columbia councilmember Jack Evans has introduced legislation to legalize sports betting in the district.
The Sports Wagering Lottery Amendment Act of 2018 was introduced this week during the Council of the District of Columbia’s regularly scheduled Committee of the Whole meeting.
The initial license term spans five years, with license and application fees amounting to $50,000. Licensed operators will have to pay the state Treasurer 10 per cent of gross sports betting revenue in taxes.
