Philippine Finance Secretary orders shut down of tax-dodging POGOS

Philippine Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III has directed the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) to shut down Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) that fail or refuse to pay the tax liabilities of their foreign workers.

Dominguez issued the order during a Department of Finance meeting held on September 13th after learning from the BIR that POGO’s tax liabilities currently amount to P21.62 billion combined (approx. €374m).
