IGT has bolstered the management team of its social casino subsidiary DoubleDown with the appointment of former Zynga studio manager Jim Veevaert as vice president of games.
Veevaert will take charge of the long-term product strategy for DoubleDown Casino across Facebook and mobile platforms, including driving product initiatives from concept to launch and working on the ongoing development of games.
IGT executive vice president of emerging business and CFO John Vandemore commented: "As we continue to grow IGT's DoubleDown, this is the perfect opportunity for us to welcome Jim Veevaert and his vast gaming industry experience to the IGT family. Jim is truly at the top of his game, and he brings great talents that complement the strong existing senior leadership team at DoubleDown."
A veteran of the social and console gaming industry, Veevaert’s has worked for a number of leading companies including Zynga, Jerry Bruckheimer Games, Microsoft and video games publishers Vivendi and Sierra Entertainment.
As vice president of marketing at Sierra Entertainment he managed the Half-Life and Counter-Strike franchises, as well as serving as executive producer of Halo 3, the highest-grossing game of 2007.
Most recently he served as general manager of Zynga’s game studio in Seattle, Washington, having joined the company in 2011. The Seattle office was shut in January this year as part of a cost cutting drive that saw 314 employees laid off.
