Barry Nightingale, the group finance director of UK betting and gaming operator Betfred, is to step down after almost seven years in the role, to be replaced by group financial controller Nicola Barr.

During his tenure at Betfred, Nightingale led the company’s £265m acquisition of the Tote and its subsequent integration, as well as commercial negotiations with 60 UK racecourses.

He will be replaced by current group financial controller Nicola Barr, who will assume the role of finance director in January 2015.

Barr joined Betfred in 2006 as call centre and internet financial accountant, progressing through the ranks to the role of financial controller.
