William Hill general counsel and head of business systems Thomas Murphy has stepped down from his role to pursue a new opportunity, with Michael Leadbeater taking over his role.
Murphy leaves the London-listed operator after more than seven years, having joined the company as general counsel and company secretary in January 2007.
In May 2012 he assumed additional responsibilities as head of business systems, and also served as managing director for the company’s business in the Americas before stepping down from that role in June 2014.
Murphy left William Hill last month to join Travelport as general counsel. He is replaced by group director of legal services Michael Leadbeater, who joined William Hill in 2008 as legal counsel and company secretary for William Hill Online. A spokesperson for the operator explained that Murphy's responsibilities have been absorbed into Leadbeater's newly-created role.
Leadbeater spent two years as legal counsel, before becoming general counsel and head of commercial for William Hill Online in 2010. He began his career at corporate law firm Eversheds, where he spent nine years before leaving in 2008.
