Rank Group has appointed former British Gas senior executive Susan Hooper to the company’s board, with Shaa Wasmund set to step down later this year after three years as a non-executive director.
As a non-executive director, Hooper will provide Rank with extensive experience gained within large consumer-facing businesses.
Most recently, she was managing director of British Gas Residential Services, leading the service and repair, central heating installations, electrical services, and Dyno-Rod business units until October 2014.
Hooper joined British Gas from the Acromas Group where she was chief executive of the travel division, responsible for Saga Holidays, Hotels, Cruises, the AA Travel division and Titan Travel.
Previously, she held senior roles at Royal Caribbean International, Avis Europe, PepsiCo International, McKinsey & Co, and Saatchi & Saatchi.
“We are delighted to welcome Susan to the Rank board,” said Rank chairman Ian Burke. “Her extensive experience gained within large consumer-facing businesses combined with her broad commercial non-executive experience will further strengthen our board.”
She will join the board with effect from September 1st, and will also serve on Rank's remuneration and nominations committees.
Rank also announced that Shaa Wasmund has informed the board that she will not be seeking re-election as a director at the company’s forthcoming annual general meeting on October 15th.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Shaa for her contribution to Rank,” said Burke. “Shaa's experience in digital media has been invaluable to the board since she joined in 2012 and we wish her all the best for the future."
Hooper will serve on Rank’s board alongside chairman Burke, CEO Henry Birch, finance director Clive Jennings, company secretary Frances Bingham, senior independent director Chris Bell, and non-executive directors the RT Hon Earl of Kilmorey, Owen O’Donnell and Tim Scoble.
