Heather Zampatti, head of wealth management at Bell Potter Securities, has been appointed as the new chairwoman of the Lotteries Commission of Western Australia (Lotterywest).
Western Australia Premier Colin Barnett announced Zampatti’s appointment as chairwoman last week, replacing John Atkins who had held the role since March 2010. The appointment takes effect immediately.
Premier Barnett said Zampatti had strong credentials to carry out the role, including a background in strategic planning, financial management and governance.
"Her current position at Bell Potter Securities and her experience as a board member will bring significant commercial and financial expertise to the Lotterywest board," Barnett said.
Zampatti is a member of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission's Financial Services Consultative Committee and was previously a member of the Takeovers Panel.
She also has a long history of community involvement, with appointments on a number of boards including current positions with the West Australian Ballet, Osteoporosis Australia, Chief Executive Women (CEW) and The University of Western Australia University Club. She has also been chairwoman of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.
Zampatti said she was "honoured and excited" at her appointment to the board of an organisation committed to serving the community.
Premier Barnett also expressed his appreciation to outgoing chairman John Atkins, who recently took up the position as agent general for Western Australia in the UK after completing a five-year term as chairman.
Last financial year, Lotterywest raised $283m to support the WA community, including $130.8m in direct grants to more than 900 community organisations around the state.
