The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) has appointed Susan Green as its new chair, with Ken Knowles also joining the regulator’s board.

“Both appointments are a positive development for the AGLC as the organization continues to modernize business operations and strengthen relationships with our many stakeholders,” AGLC president and chief executive Bill Robinson commented.

The two appointments are effective immediately, with Green taking responsibility for overseeing AGLC’s performance, setting strategic directions for the state’s gambling and liquor industries.

She has extensive experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors, focused on strategic planning, governance, financial stewardship, stakeholder relationship and policy development. In her career to date she has held senior roles within the University of Alberta, the Alberta Cancer Board, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, and the Government of Alberta.

Ken Knowles brings with him more than 40 years’ experience in the racing, gaming entertainment and exhibition industries, and was previously president and CEO of Northlands, a sports and exhibition centre in Alberta’s capital Edmonto, before retiring in 2010.

Knowles is also a member of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and serves on the Caritas Hospitals Foundation Board.

“The appointments of Ms. Green and Mr. Knowles represent the next generation of leadership coming forward at the AGLC,” president of the Alberta Treasury Board and Minister of Finance Joe Ceci said.
