Poker and entertainment business World Poker Fund Holdings (WPFH) has appointed sports marketing executive and player agent Francisco de Borbon to its advisory board, bringing 18 years of international business development experience to the company.
Borbon began his career at IMG as a sports agent before founding Asap Sports, the industry’s first professional sports press room transcript service, in 2005.
The company currently services all major US sports such as the National Basketball Association, National Football League, National Baseball League, National Hockey League, Professional Golfer’s Association, National Collegiate Athletic Association and NASCAR.
He joins the likes of Martin Owens as an advisor to WPFH, who joined in July last year to help the company develop its online gaming business.
Borbon's appointment follows the announcement earlier this week that WPFH plans to launch CelebrityWorld.com, a celebrity-owned casino site which begins beta testing on April 15th.
“It's a new era in sports and entertainment marketing,” Borbon said. “The millennials have changed the entire landscape with the adoption of streaming data and on-demand online entertainment.
“Social gaming is inevitably going to take over the gaming industry, its already being widely adopted from Asia to the United States. World Poker Fund is doing some very special things in this space, I'm extremely excited to be part of the advisory team.”
