Stockholm-listed online gaming operator Mr Green has appointed former Svenska Spel chief Jesper Kärrbrink as the new CEO of its Malta-based business.

Kärrbrink was previously expected to assume the role after the summer, but that has now been brought forward by Mr Green.

He replaces Bo Wänghammar who will now work within the business development team for the Mr Green group.

“It is exciting to be back in the gaming industry, and to be working with one of the industry’s strongest brands,” said Kärrbrink. “I now get the chance to develop an international product offer and strengthen Mr Green’s position further.”

Kärrbrink’s most recent assignment was as CEO and executive vice-chairman of Swedish flower delivery chain Euroflorist AB where he has served since 2011. Prior to that he worked as head of Bonnier’s digital businesses and Bonnier Magazines, as well as serving as president and CEO of Nordic search services and directory assistance provider Eniro.

Between 2004 and 2008, he was the president and CEO of Swedish state-owned gaming operator Svenska Spel.

“We are very pleased to have recruited Jesper,” said Mr Green & Co CEO Per Norman. “He is a driven leader with extensive experience in online and gaming companies. Jesper will have a strong focus on continued growth and the development of the product offering.”

Shares in Mr Green & Co. AB (Co. Data) (AKT:MRG) were trading up 1.75 per cent at SEK34.90 per share in Stockholm earlier Monday.
