Amaya has announced its intention to appoint David Lazzarato to its board after Paul McFeeters, a proposed nominee for election, announced that he will be unable to serve as a director of the company.

McFeeters, who has been proposed as a director at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting, confirmed that for “personal reasons unrelated to Amaya” he will not be able to serve on its board.

Assuming that he is elected at the meeting on June 28th, he will immediately submit his resignation. Once he has resigned, Amaya’s board will appoint Lazzarato as his replacement.

Lazzarato is a media and broadcast industry consultant who assists companies with strategy development, mergers and acquisitions and financing.

He has served on the board and chaired the audit committee of Yellow Pages Limited, a Toronto-listed company that owns and operates online properties and publications such as the Yellow Pages directories since 2012.

He has also served as senior vice president of finance for Canada’s largest telecommunications business, Bell Canada, between 2010 and 2011. Lazzarato has also served on the board of LED Roadway Lighting and as vice chair of the Trillium Health Centre Foundation.

He was formerly chief executive of Craig Wireless Systems, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Alliance Alantis Communications and chairman of Motion Picture Distribution.

Currently he does not hold any shares in Amaya.

The company’s share price (Co.Data) (TSX:AYA) closed up 0.59 per cent at CAD$18.91 per share in Toronto yesterday.
