Sports broadcaster and software supplier Satellite Information Services (SIS) has confirmed the appointment of Mike Jones to the newly created role of director of software engineering.
Jones has been with SIS on an interim basis for the past six months, with the appointment now permanent.
He will work closely with the company’s teams in London and Salford, helping to produce software that underpins SIS’ diversifying and innovative product offering, the company said.
Jones was most recently employed as a senior project manager for Sony Playstation, and brings over 30 years’ experience in software development to SIS, having worked with major brands such as London Underground, Barclays, Logica, ABB and Alstom.
SIS chief executive Gary Smith said he was eager to see Jones apply his many years’ experience in the field to help the diversification of SIS’ product suite.
“Mike’s wealth of experience within software will be invaluable at an exciting time for the company when SIS is rolling out a number of innovative products to both the retail and online betting markets,” he said.
Commenting on his new role, Jones said: “I’m delighted to be joining such a forward-thinking, truly innovative company that boasts a rich heritage in the industry.
“I’ve had the good fortune to have sight of the innovative range of SIS products and services that are soon to be released and I can’t wait to help them be the best they can be.”
