Spanish gambling regulator La Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) has promoted deputy director general Juan Espinosa García to lead the national regulator following the departure of previous chief Carlos Hernandez Rivera.

Espinosa Garcia has served with the DGOJ since July 2013 after spells with the country’s National Competition Commission and Competition Tribunal.

he replaces Hernandez Rivera, whose departure as DGOJ director general was announced in Novemberfollowing a restructuring that saw the body come under the control of Spain's Ministry of Finance and Public Administration.

This new structure sees the DGOJ become one of five departments within the Ministry of Finance, alongside the General Secretariat for Local and Autonomous Financing, the General Directorate of Taxes, the General Directorate of the Land Registry, and the Central Economic Administrative Court.
