London-listed pool betting operator and technology supplier Sportech has appointed Andrew Gaughan to its board of directors with immediate effect.

Gaughan is based in Canada and has served as president of Sportech Racing and Digital for the past four years, having joined the company in 2010 following Sportech’s acquisition of the Scientific Games Racing business.

He has extensive experience in the gaming, technology and horseracing sectors, having previously held senior positions at Scientific Games, Magna Entertainment Corporation and Woodbine Entertainment Group.

Sportech said that his appointment as an executive director reflects the importance that the board places on developing its North American business.

"I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the board,” said Sportech chairman Roger Withers. “He is a highly valued member of our executive team, and we look forward to him continuing to accelerate the development of our North American based business."

Gaughan joins Withers, CEO Ian Penrose, chief financial officer Mickey Kalifa, and non-executive director Richard McGuire on Sportech’s board.

The company also said Monday that that it is conducting a process to appointment further independent non-executive directors to the board, with an announcement expected in due course.

Shares in Sportech plc (Co. Data) (LSE:SPO) were trading down 0.44 per cent at 91.10 pence per share in London early Monday morning.
