Austrian gaming giant Novomatic Group has contracted former Bavarian state lottery president Erwin Horak to provide lottery consultancy services to the company.
An experienced lottery executive, Horak will support Novomatic's wholly-owned subsidiary Novomatic Lottery Solutions (NLS), with a particular focus on business and customer development.
He retired as president of Lotto Bayern in July of last year after 19 years with the state lottery. He previously served as chairman of the German lottery GlücksSpirale Committee and also led the German lottery association Deutscher Lotto- und Totoblock (DLTB).
NLS has over 40,000 VLT terminals in operation across Europe and around 23m registered players per year. In January the company won a seven-year contract to provide its technology platform to Estonian national lottery operator Eesti Loto and Novomatic chief executive Harald Neumann believes Horak can build on this success.
“As reflected in our successes in Estonia and Greece, lottery technology and services are of increasing strategic importance to us," Neumann said. "With the valuable contributions of Erwin Horak we will gain an important impetus in our cooperation with state-licensed lotteries."
"After my active work at Lotto Bayern, I am very much looking forward to contributing my knowledge and experience to the Novomatic Group," Horak said. "Lotteries are increasingly under competitive pressure and require innovative, modern and open solutions, such as those developed and offered by Novomatic Lottery Solutions.
"Novomatic has a good range of products. I find it very positive that this new offer will also increase the competition within the German lottery market and I would like to contribute to it," he added.
