Stockholm-listed gaming operator Betsson has appointed Jesper Svensson as chief executive of its Malta-based operational headquarters on a permanent basis.

Svensson has been with the operator since 2013 and has served as acting CEO of Betsson Malta since the departure of Ulrik Bengtsson three months ago.

"Jesper has extensive experience from the gaming industry and the passion and skills needed to lead Betsson's gaming operations,” said Pontus Lindwall, who replaced Bengtsson on an interim basis as group chief executive in September. “I look forward to working with Jesper and his team.”

Svensson previously served as managing director of and most recently held the role of chief commercial officer. He also has iGaming experience from Bodog, InterCasino and Ladbrokes.

Commenting on his new role, Svensson said: "The team and I have many opportunities and also challenges ahead. We have already made improvements to our ways of working in order to better leverage on the multi-brand model and the single platform.”   

Shares in Betsson AB (STO:BETS-B) were trading down 1.10 per cent at SEK58.65 per share in Stockholm Tuesday morning.
