eSports betting operator Unikrn has appointed Tabcorp’s Andrew Vouris as its new chief operating officer (COO), ahead of the launch of its new Malta-licensed betting platform.

Vouris will lead Unikrn’s betting and gaming growth strategies, working with the company’s global team and four primary offices in Seattle, Las Vegas, Sydney and Berlin.

He begins his new role later this month and will report directly to Unikrn chief executive Rahul Sood.

Vouris joins the company from Australian gaming giant Tabcorp, where he worked for more than ten years, mostly recently as deputy COO of wagering and media. He was also responsible for Tabcorp’s investment in Unikrn in 2015.

“I first met the Unikrn crew back in 2014. That’s when I made the decision that Tabcorp would invest in them to help them build their business,” said Vouris. “Obviously, I fell in love with the team, the brand, the vision and the product - this company is the future, and I’m going to make sure we expose them to the world.”

Unikrn plans to launch a new betting operation targeting European regulated markets in early 2018 through its recently acquired Malta gaming licence.

“We hope none of our competitors will hold a grudge that Andrew picked Unikrn,” said Sood. “It was never a fair fight given our recent success and his long-established love of both esports and our company.

“With UnikoinGold and our European expansion, we have a busy year ahead of us. Andrew is going to bring the experience and discipline that we need to accelerate Unikrn’s path toward unprecedented success.”
