Stockholm-listed gaming operator MRG and joint venture partner Gamingzone Entertainment have appointed Niklas Grawé as chief executive of their new eSports venture.

Grawé will join the company before the end of this year and currently serves as chief operating officer at telecoms group 3 in Sweden, and chief executive of its hallon subsidiary.

He will be tasked with establishing a new community for eSports fans with a focus on entertainment, news and gaming, as the new business seeks to capture a share of the estimated 650,000 daily followers of eSports in the Nordics.

"Niklas has the perfect experience to drive our innovative eSports venture", says Per Norman, chief executive of MRG. "Niklas combines strong leadership skills with innovative entrepreneurial thinking and digital competence."

Commenting on his new role, Grawé said: "It's awesome to get this opportunity to build a new, unique community for eSports fan across the world. Our ambition is to create a community where all eSports fans love to spend time."

The new eSports venture is yet to be named.

Shares in Mr Green & Co. AB (STO:MRG) were trading down 0.26 per cent at SEK41.50 per share in Stockholm Thursday morning, just off their 52-week low of SEK40.75 per share set on August 30th.
