London-listed gaming operator GVC Holdings has appointed Rob Wood as deputy chief financial officer and board member.

Wood will replace Paul Bowtell as GVC's chief financial officer effective March 5th, 2019.

He currently serves as CFO of the Ladbrokes Coral UK Retail business, the largest division in GVC, having originally joined Coral Retail as business development and strategy director.

He is credited with playing a key role in helping the retail business deliver synergies of more than £80m from the merger of Ladbrokes and Coral, and for driving the multi-channel offering and the detailed planning for a post-Triennial Review environment.

“Having undertaken a rigorous selection process, we are delighted to appoint Rob as our Chief Financial Officer Designate,” said GVC Holdings chairman Lee Feldman. “Rob will be a great addition to the Board and his appointment demonstrates the strong bench of talent within GVC. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Paul for his invaluable contribution over the years to Gala Coral, Ladbrokes Coral and GVC. We wish him well with his new role.”

Bowtell is leaving the company in March to pursue a new opportunity with private equity firm Alchemy Partners, having served for seven years with Gala Coral, Ladbrokes Coral and GVC.

Commenting on his appointment, Wood said: “I am delighted to step up to the role of CFO designate and would like to thank Paul for his mentorship and guidance. I look forward to working with Kenny and the wider management team as we execute on our strategy.”

Shares in GVC Holdings plc. (LSE:GVC) were trading up 0.32 per cent at 932.50 pence per share in London early Thursday morning.
