London-listed casino and bingo operator Rank Group has confirmed the departure of Alan Morgan as managing director of the company’s UK retail business.

Morgan has tendered his resignation to the board and will be leaving the business on 31 July to pursue other opportunities.

His day-to-day responsibilities will be assumed by Rank CEO John O’Reilly, with the search for Morgan's successor already underway.

"I would like to thank Alan for all of his hard work in our retail businesses over the last three years,” said O’Reilly. “He has been instrumental in leading the transformation plan across the division and he leaves Rank with our best wishes for the future."

Morgan joined Rank in September 2016 to run Mecca Bingo's retail business, having held a number of senior positions within the hospitality and leisure sector.

In December 2017, following the creation of a single leadership team across the group's UK retail businesses, Morgan took over as UK retail managing director, with responsibility for Grosvenor Casinos, Mecca Bingo and newly launched brand Luda.

Prior to joining Rank, Morgan served as chief operating and commercial officer at Spirit Pub Company until it was sold to Greene King. He has also held roles with Whitbread and David Lloyd Leisure.

"I have had a very exciting three years with Rank and feel that now is the appropriate time for a new challenge," Morgan said. "I wish John and the team every success as they continue to work through the transformation plan."

Shares in Rank Group plc (LSE:RANK) were trading down 0.50 per cent at 158.60 pence per share in London Wednesday morning.
