Leading UK bingo operator Buzz Bingo has appointed former Thomas Cook group marketing director Jamie Queen to the newly-created role of chief commercial officer.

Queen will join the operator in June to lead all marketing communications for the brand, as well as its food and beverage operations, gaming and bingo propositions. He will report directly to chief executive Chris Matthews.

His appointment follows the recent £40m rebrand of the business from Gala Leisure to Buzz Bingo and the launch of its Playtech-powered online offering at buzzbingo.com.

“Jamie impressed us with his passion for understanding what drives customer behaviour, his interest in disruptive innovation and his ability to harness the latest technology. He has an excellent track-record in managing businesses across digital and retail platforms,” said chief executive Chris Matthews.

“At a time when Buzz is going through rapid change and exciting development, we are extremely positive about what Jamie will bring to both the executive management team and the organisation as a whole.”

Queen joins from international travel operator Thomas Cook, where he has served since 2014, most recently as group marketing director.
