New York-listed supplier Inspired Entertainment has appointed former Scientific Games executive Steve Beason as its new group chief technology officer.

Beason assumes the role with immediate effect, leading Inspired's hardware, software and content development.

He has served as an independent consultant for the company since 2018 after more than ten years’ service at Scientific Games, most recently as enterprise chief technology officer between 2011 and 2016.

In that role, Beason managed a group of more than 1,200 employees in both operational, product development and service roles, and was instrumental in the integration of Bally, WMS, Barcrest, and Global Draw.

“Steve is an innovative and results-driven leader whom I've had the pleasure of working with during his tenure at Scientific Games," said Inspired Entertainment executive chairman Lorne Weil. “Given his unparalleled industry knowledge and extensive experience across the lottery, casino, interactive, horse racing and sports betting industries, he is extremely qualified to fill this role.

“I'm confident that Steve's leadership and proven track record are exactly what we need to enter the North American marketplace and take our business to the next level."

Prior to working at Scientific Games, Beason was executive director of information technology for the Hong Kong Jockey Club from 1998 to 2005, and also served as vice president of software for GTECH (now IGT) from 1986 until 1998.

Shares in Inspired Entertainment Inc (NAQ:INSE) closed down 7.44 per cent at $7.09 per share in New York Thursday following the release of first quarter results.
