AFL bans assistant coach for illegal betting

The Australian Football League (AFL) has banned Essendon assistant coach Dean Wallis for 14 games after he admitted to placing three bets on AFL matches, including one bet on his own team.

Wallis admitted to wagering AUD$400 in three separate multi-leg bets, one of which involved a Bombers game. The investigation was initiated by the AFL after a tip-off that Wallis had placed a bet at a Bendigo TAB outlet.
