Victoria court ruling favours Tatts but Tabcorp misses out

Australia’s Supreme Court of Victoria has order the state government to pay AUD$451.2m to Tatts Group as compensation for the expiry of the gaming operator’s licence in August 2012, although the court dismissed a similar claim by Tabcorp Holdings.

The decision follows the loss last year of a duopoly held by Tatts and Tabcorp over the operation of 27,500 poker machines across the state of Victoria. Clubs and hotels now operate the poker machines.
