Toronto-listed sports media and betting provider theScore has secured temporary license approval to launch its online sportsbook in the US state of Indiana later this year.

The Indiana Gaming Commission issued the temporary Sports Wagering Vendor licence to theScore subsidiary, Score Digital Sports Ventures, as the first step of a multi-stage regulatory approval process which must be satisfied before the operator can go live with its theScore Bet app in the state.

The approval follows an agreement last year between theScore and casino operator Penn National Gaming, providing the company with market access to launch mobile sports betting in Indiana.

theScore expects to launch in the state later this year, subject to satisfying all regulatory requirements. The operator will join the likes of BetAmerica, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, PointsBet and BetRivers, who are already online in the market.

theScore has already rolled out its betting app in New Jersey and recently secured market access in Colorado with casino operator Jacobs Entertainment.

Shares in Score Media and Gaming Inc (CVE:SCR) closed at CAD$0.55 per share in Toronto Tuesday.
