Sweden's horse racing industry, one of the intended beneficiaries of the country's restrictive gambling policy, has called on the government to cancel its gambling monopoly to enable it to compete on an equal footing with international operators.
The Swedish Trotting Association, which together with the Swedish Jockey Club owns the horse racing betting monopoly operator ATG, says that Sweden's restrictive gambling policy is directly responsible for the rapid decline in revenues over the past few years.
