Romboli stepped down as head of Svenska Spel’s core Lottery division this week and will take on her new role in December

Sweden’s AB Trav och Galopp (ATG) has appointed Svenska Spel’s Anna Romboli as its new chief executive officer.

Romboli will take up the position in December, having stepped down as head of Svenska Spel’s core Lottery (Tur) division this week.

Prior to Svenska Spel, Romboli held senior positions at games developer NetEnt and design and innovation agency Veryday.

Commenting on her appointment, Romboli said: “I am very happy and proud to be entrusted with leading ATG. It is a company with a strong history, many committed employees and a special importance for the Swedish horse industry.

“I look forward to continuing to develop the offering to our 1.4 million customers together with our employees and build on what makes ATG unique.”

ATG chairman Peter Norman commented: “Anna has extensive experience from the gaming industry and has shown for many years that she can develop both businesses and people. She is a leader who combines business acumen with a great commitment and customer focus. The Board is very pleased that she has accepted the assignment as CEO of ATG.”

Jörgen Forsberg will continue as ATG’s interim CEO until Romboli takes office in December. ATG’s former long-serving CEO Hasse Lord Skarplöth resigned earlier this year.

Svenska Spel president and CEO Anna Johnson said of Romboli’s pending departure: “I would like to thank Anna for her efforts at Svenska Spel. I wish her the best of luck with her new assignment in another part of the gaming industry.”

Christian Tönseth has taken up the position of interim head of Svenska Spel’s Lottery division, while the recruitment of a new head continues.
