The second part of our series on 2011’s Winner and Losers focuses on the year’s most dramatic loser. But Full Tilt could be heading for a surprising resurrection.


Last year’s losers all looked on the verge of going out of business. It is cheering to report that two of them (Bingo.com and CryptoLogic) seem to be clawing their way back from the brink. Devilfish was the third and a year on its future still looks shaky despite being acquired by The Weather Lottery.

This year’s biggest loser was unquestionably Full Tilt Poker. Despite the catastrophic economic conditions, I cannot recall another major gaming business that went down the pan. That in itself is a testament to the inherent strength of the industry and even the Tilt saga could become an unlikely tale of redemption.
