Sports betting platform provider SBTech is setting up a new office in Las Vegas in order to take advantage of potential regulatory developments in the US.

The supplier expects the office to open in early 2018 with around five staff, including a manager to lead the US operation.

SBTech is looking to play an active role in the development of regulations for sports betting in the US, with the company seeing "real potential" for New Jersey's appeal against the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) to succeed.

As a member of the American Gaming Association's betting taskforce, SBTech aims to support regulators in formulating tax rates and a regulatory model.

Should New Jersey prevail in the Supreme Court, SBTech will deploy its omni-channel and in-play betting solutions, as well as its Chameleon360 iGaming platform, for US operators.
