Liverpool-based bookmaker Stanleybet appeared on the verge of another landmark legal victory Thursday when the opinion of the European Advocate General Cruz-Villalòn was published, backing many of the company’s claims and criticising the current regime in Italy.

According to the company’s lawyer Daniela Agnello, Villalòn’s comments show that “Stanley has suffered ten years of discrimination, ten years of unjustified barriers” to its activities, as the foundations of the current licensing regime were called into question.
