New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has voiced his support for legalised gaming in New York State as a means of creating jobs and safeguarding tax revenues, calling for action this year to amend the State Constitution to allow gaming.

In his 2012 State of the State address Wednesday, Cuomo launched an economic development blueprint  designed to strengthen “New York's legacy as the progressive capital of the nation”. The ten point economic blueprint includes plans for a comprehensive approach to casino gaming in recognition of the lost tax revenue, tourism dollars and jobs to neighbouring states.
