Plans to repeal Schleswig-Holstein’s European Commission approved online gaming legislation suffered a setback Friday with the publication of a detailed opinion from the EC and Malta, which extends the standstill period for a further month.

The detailed opinion against the Draft Act, which would see Schleswig-Holstein abandon its gaming legislation in favour of joining the State Treaty on Gaming, was welcomed by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) and the parliamentary leaders of the CDU and FDP parties in Schleswig-Holstein, but was dismissed by the state’s ruling SPD party as an attempt to frustrate its plans.
