The Netherlands State Lottery (Staatsloterij) has lost its long running legal battle with consumer group Lottery Loss (Loterijverlies) after The Hague Court ruled this week that the company had misled consumers for a period of up to seven years.

The case concerned advertisements by the state lottery between the years 2000 and 2007 which referred to a set number of guaranteed big prize winners for each draw, even though there was no guarantee that the prizes could be won.
