After more than half a decade of false starts, European online gaming operators were left disappointed once again Tuesday when Swedish Financial Markets Minister Peter Norman announced that a new draft gaming bill was unlikely to materialise before 2014 or 2015.

In the face of European Commission criticism of its monopolistic gambling legislation, the Swedish government has been suggesting that it will release a new draft gaming bill since 2008, with numerous independent and state-commissioned studies carried out during that time.
