The Missouri Gaming Commission (MGC) is nearing the launch of its regulated sports betting market on 1 December with temporary licences issued to operators and suppliers.
Temporary mobile sports betting licences have been issued to DraftKings, Underdog, FanDuel, Circa Sports, Fanatics, Caesars, BetMGM, Penn Sports Interactive (ESPN Bet) and bet365.
Circa and DraftKings had already been selected as direct mobile licensees by the MGC in August, with the other operators having had to secure market access deals with either the state’s 13 casinos or Missouri’s six professional sports teams.
Underdog has partnered Kansas City Royals (MLB), bet365 is with the St. Louis Cardinals (MLB) and FanDuel is with St. Louis CITY SC (MLS). BetMGM has teamed up with Century Casinos, Fanatics with Boyd Gaming, and Penn and Caesars both have their own casinos in the state.
The licensees must now submit their internal controls and house rules for approval, after which the Commission will provide operators with a pre-authorization letter to provide to third-party payment processors.
Mobile operators will be able to allow customers to register for online sports wagering accounts and accept deposits from November 17, provided the accounts are established in compliance with the state’s proposed regulations.
At 12:00am (Central Standard Time) on December 1, operators with temporary licenses that have completed the requirements for internal controls and house rules may begin live wagering.
The Commission has also confirmed temporary retail sportsbook licences for seven venues, including Fanatics Sportsbooks at Boyd’s Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City and Ameristar Casino Resort and Spa St. Charles venues.
Other retail sportsbooks to be approved include Caesars Sportsbook at Horseshoe St Louis, Penn’s Hollywood Casino St Louis, River City Casino and Argosy Riverside Casino venues, and Century Casino Cape Girardeau.
A number of sports betting suppliers have also been approved, including Kambi, Entain and United Tote, alongside service providers such as GLI, GeoComply and Xpoint.
