The English Football Association (FA) has formally proposed an amendment to its rules that would see any individual involved in the top eight divisions of the football league banned from betting on any aspect of a game.

The changes to FA Rules would come into force from the start of the 2014-15 football season and would enforce a worldwide ban on betting on all football-related matters, from the transfer of players to the employment of managers and team selections. Its rules already prohibit the passing of inside information for betting purposes.

It would affect all leagues from the top division of English football, the Premier League, down to the regional Isthmian Leagues.
