An independent report commissioned by the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB) claims that the UK’s most deprived areas have the lowest number of betting shops, undermining the claim that bookmakers target the poor and vulnerable in society.

The report, compiled by retail location data analyst the Local Data Company, reveals that areas of the UK with the highest levels of deprivation play host to just 17 per cent of betting shops.
