The UK Gambling Commission has warned operators that it has identified serious flaws in anti-money laundering and social responsibility controls following an investigation into online gaming operator bet365.

The findings of the investigation have been published in agreement with bet365 in order to help the wider industry develop better practices in key areas.

The investigation was prompted by the case of an individual who was arrested in May 2013, having been found to have stolen equipment worth around £19m to fund his gambling addiction. He lost around £4.8m wagering on the bet365 sportsbook, making over 40,000 transactions.
