The Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) has ratcheted up the pressure on Senators to pass Bill C290, a bill to legalise betting on single sporting events which passed the House of Commons with unanimous consent more than three years ago.

Since gaining the approval of members of parliament in March 2012, single event sports betting has continued to attract supporters in Canada, with the CGA highlighting the fact that major sporting organisations are also now in favour of the legislation.

In a letter this week, the CGA urged senators to “stop ignoring the facts about sports betting in Canada and pass Bill C290”.
