Texas Representative Joe Barton has reintroduced the Internet Poker Freedom Act, a bill that looks to establish a framework for the licensing of online poker by all federal states and by federally-recognised Indian tribes in the US.

Identical to the previous bill introduced by Barton in 2013, the Internet Poker Freedom Act (HR2888) allows all states and tribes to apply for approval to license online poker from a federal regulator. The legislation has two co-sponsors, Republican Representative Leonard Lance of New Jersey and Democrat Steve Cohen of Tennessee.

It also allows states that have opted to license poker to pool liquidity in order to create a competitive market.
