Football Federation Australia (FFA), the governing body for soccer, indoor soccer and beach soccer in Australia, has reiterated that participants in football are not allowed to bet on the sport after imposing a fine this week on an amateur player.

The FFA reaffirmed the importance of football participants complying with the rules on betting on football matches, after an unnamed New South Wales player was fined $1,000 for betting on a number of Hyundai A-League matches in 2014.
