The Latvian ministry of justice said Wednesday that it will soon introduce amendments to the country's criminal and sports laws in order to criminalise the manipulation of sporting competitions.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday alongside the Latvian Olympic Committee secretary general Žoržs Tikmers, justice minister Dzintars Rasnačs said the amendments were being introduced in response to the rise in match-fixing attempts by criminal organisations.
