A leading US free market organisation, with the support of 11 other entities, has written to Congress to emphasize its opposition to the Restoration of America’s Wire Act (RAWA), describing the legislation to ban iGaming as “an outright assault on federalism.”

The Centre for Freedom and Prosperity (CF&P) has urged House Judiciary Committee chair Robert Goodlatte to respect the 10th Amendment right of states to form their own gambling legislation.

It notes that Congress is being put under “enormous pressure” by brick and mortar casino owners and others with vested interests that would profit from the HR 707 bill. It also accepts that Congress has long been opposed to online gambling.
