New Zealand’s Internal Affairs Minister has announced a series of major increases in fees for non-casino gambling operators as part of a major plan to address the country’s gambling operating deficit, amid concerns at the decline in gross proceeds from gaming machines during the past ten years. 

The government said that it is carrying an annual gambling operating deficit of NZ$$3.8m, as well as an accumulated deficit of nearly $13m, which Minister Peter Dunne believes will only increase without any increase in fees.
