Sports data specialist Genius Sports has signed an integrity agreement with the Football Association of Indonesia to safeguard its competitions from manipulation.
The partnership sees Genius Sports and the association, also known as Persatuan Sepakbola Seluruh Indonesia (PSSI), work together to combat match-fixing in football, with the provider supplying a range of integrity services including its monitoring technology and educational workshops.
The first educational workshop was delivered by Genius Sports’ integrity operations director Ben Paterson last week, with the aim of informing players, coaches and officials about the rules, regulation and consequences of match-fixing.
“Proactively combating the threats of match-fixing and competition manipulation demands that all sports constantly look to update and improve their existing measures and systems,” said Paterson. “The PSSI is demonstrating a commendable commitment to their integrity and we look forward to using our years of expertise to safeguard their competitions.”
The new agreement expands on the data partnership struck last month between Genius Sports and the PSSI to enhance the league’s digital experience for football fans.
“Protecting the integrity of competitions is vitally important to the success and national development of the PSSI,” said Marsal Irwan Masita, deputy general secretary of the PSSI. “We recognised Genius Sports’ true expertise in this field and look forward to working alongside them to ensure our games remain transparent, honest and protected.”
