The Western Australia government has introduced new laws to help protect state-owned Lotterywest and ban online lottery betting operators such as Lottoland.

Delivering on the government’s promise to ban synthetic lotteries, the Gaming and Wagering Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 will expand the powers of the state’s Gaming and Wagering Commission to stop operators such as Lottoland, which offer betting on the outcome of domestic and overseas lottery draws, from entering the market. The provisions also include fines of $2,500 for players using synthetic lotteries.
