The European Court of Justice (ECJ) has said in several Opinions issued Wednesday that Germany’s monopoly on the organisation of sports betting cannot be considered to be justifiable when the national courts have found that it does not effectively pursue the objective of combating the dangers of gambling in a consistent and systematic manner.
