Wynn Resorts has secured a Commercial Gaming Facility Operator license for its Wynn Al Marjan Island resort in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) of the UAE officially approved the entity developing the resort, a joint venture between affiliates of Wynn Resorts, Marjan and RAK Hospitality Holding, following a diligent and extensive review.

The approval clears the path for the opening of the eagerly-anticipated multi-billion dollar resort in early 2027.

“Wynn Resorts thanks the GCGRA for the confidence and trust the license grant signifies and is proud to be the recipient of the first commercial gaming facility license in the UAE,” the company said in a statement Friday.

“We are underway with the construction of our resort in Ras Al Khaimah and look forward to being a key partner in the development of its tourism economy.”

The development is Wynn’s first beachfront resort and is being built on an island of almost 62 hectares jutting into the Arabian Gulf.

It will be the first integrated gaming resort in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, and will feature 1,542 rooms and suites, including 22 private Villa Estates situated on the newly designed marina.

The licence marks the second to be issued by the GCGRA after the regulator approved The Game as UAE’s first authorised lottery operator under the UAE Lottery brand in July.
